Two Songs

This Is My Song --Lloyd Stone, 1934

* This stanzas, publised during the period between the two world wars, express a hope for
lasting peace among all nations, races, and cultures. Finlandia is derived from a "tone poem"
of the same name by Finnish composer Jean Sibelius.

This is my song, O God of all the nations,
a song of peace for the lands afar and mine.
This is my home, the country where my hear is,
here are my hopes, my dreams, my holy shrine;
But other hearts in other lands are beating
with hopes and dreams as true and high as mine.
My country's skies are bluer than the ocean,
and sun-light beams on clover-leaf and pine;
But other lands have sun-light, too, and clover,
and sky are everywhere as blue as mine.
O hear my song, O God of all the nation,
a song of peace for their land and for mine.
Another Song...
I spent few weeks considering the appropriate of this song to be one of them listed together while American Soldier still hanging around in Iraq for the long time reason of the need of energy. If we, as American, can not find any solution of alternative energy; American soldier will always need to be sent to Middle East to control the influence in that region, killing and wars will drag long time to be stopped. This song is chosen for the reason of my daughter need a popular song for her leadership class and it, in deed, suits the subject well.
American Soldier -- Toby Keith
I'm just trying to be a father, raise a daughter and a son,
Be a lover to their mother, everything to everyone.
Up and at 'em bright and early, I am in my business suit,
Yeah, I'm dressed for success from my head down to my boots,
I don't do it for money, there's still bills that I can't pay,
I don't do it for the glory, I just do it anyway.
Providing for our future's my responsiblility,
Yeah I'm real good under pressure, being all that I can be.
And I can't call in sick on Mondays when the weekends been too strong,
I just work straight through the holidays, and somethimes all night long.
You can bet that I stand ready when the wolf growls at the door,
Hey, I'm soldier, hey I'm steady, hey I'm true down to the core,
And I will always do my duty, no matter what the price,
I've counted up the cost, I know the sacrafice,
Oh, and I don't want to die for you, but if dyin's asked of me,
I'll bear that cross with an honor, 'Cause freedom don't come free.
I'm an American Soldier, an American,
Beside my brothers and my sisters I will proudly take a stand,
When liberty's in jeopardy I will alwasy do what's right.
