Made in Taiwan? - 20 yeas ago, Made in China? Today?

20 years ago, I was watching a movie "Fatal Attraction" in London with a group of American friends. Unexpectedly, the main actress in the movie asked the main actor Douglas who standing by a busy street in a rainy day. When Douglas's umbrella was blown outward due to the cheap material, she said in distance: "Made in Taiwan?"

I was shocked and embarrassed by the talking in bold sentence like this, and disappointed with this rude dialogue and seeing the true face of the people in developed country -How they see us when we work so hard for surviving?

Meanwhile, I was working as you described in your article during the time that Taiwan is in the stage of promoting and developing business for better surviving. Of course, my American friends inevitably mention about this "Made in Taiwan" in our conversation after we stepped out of theater. Luckily, they are a group of educated American that I can give my answer to their "Made in Taiwan" by joking in return: " Don't you know that is our government's policy to produce the products with the quality like this, otherwise, how can we make you customers keep in buying." They laughed out loud and amazed by my quick wit.

I don't know whether or not there is any elegant white woman in somewhere on this earth teasing about "Made in China?" today.

So, up to today, I still can not tolerate any human, especially those people live in long time good life in developed countries teasing people who work hard for surviving in any other second or third world compare to their first class world.

Surviving is really not easy. Isn't it? We, human need to work under teasing in order for surviving.
